Hello SINC members new and old! I've been a part of the group for about two years now, and after some computer issues (and my own shortcomings in that department), I'm back to playing regularly. With that being said, I would like to reintroduce myself to those of you who I haven't said hello to yet.
A little about me: When I first joined the ED community, I was, like many other pilots, absolutely lost and overwhelmed. I puddled around for a few months jumping from system to system earning credits with no rhyme or reason. Tired of the lack of direction in my piloting career, I joined the explorer's discord and set off in a Hauler, making a 4,000 light-year trip in approximately two days. Upon my return, I bought my Asp Explorer Sihaya and spent the next few months going on shorter expeditions. It was around this time that I found out a good friend of mine was also a pilot, and not only that, he was an active pirate with the Diamond Frogs! Inspired by the thought that I too could join a more organized community, I perused Inara and made a short list of factions that interested me. That's how I discovered Sirius Inc.
Sirius Inc. stood out from the beginning. It was a small faction, but not too small. It's headquarters (San) sat on the doorstep to the Pleiades, one of the first major landmarks that any novice explorer travels to. Perhaps what interested me most was that Sirius Inc. sat on the edge of the frontier. Images of a shining democracy on the fringes of civilized space complete with suave explorers and traders filled me with excitement, so I began the process of becoming a SINC citizen!
It was probably the best decision I've made in Elite. As I learned how the background simulation worked with the help of CMDRs Sali Vader and McCaslin, I realized that one CMDR can make a huge difference in the region. I was no longer an aimless wanderer. I was a member whose presence made a tangible effect on the community. People listened when I had an idea. Sometimes those ideas were actually implemented. The feeling that I was contributing really is what sold me on the awesomeness and friendliness of the ED community. If you're new, I know that you can expect the same.
I was there when Aegis Research invaded the Pleiades region. Back then, we were the only* player faction in the area. We were so frustrated (McCaslin, I believe you had to quit the game for a day to collect your thoughts, if I'm remembering correctly). But we persevered, and just over one year later, it's showing! And none of it would be possible if it wasn't for the collective efforts of all of our members -- residents, supporters, allies and citizens alike.
To those of you just joining us for the first time, you are most welcome here. To those of you who have been here for a while, I want you to know that our little community brings me feelings of pride every day. I'm very happy to be a part of Sirius Inc. and I'm so excited to see where this group goes over the years. Please add me to your friends list and ping me, be it for a question or just to say hello!
Remember, fly casual!
